A Hershey Community summer blood drive is set from 11 a.m.– 5 p.m. on Monday, July 20 at the Hershey Legion Community Hall. Blood supplies continue to be very low, according to the American Red Cross. Walk-Ins are welcome but appointments are needed to run a well-organized drive. Call 308-520-1613 to sign up as soon as possible. A wide range of volunteers from the community share the responsibilities for the community blood drive, said coodinator Barb Baldridge, including: The Hershey National Honor Society helps set up the drive, works the kitchen, and assists donors. The Hershey Senior Center provides homemade cookies. Kwik Stop continues to provide hot pizzas, and the Hershey State Bank will help with refreshments and multiple donors. The Ladies Auxiliary, Patriot Packages members and many individuals from the area all give generously of their time to provide a hot meal and help the blood drive run smoothly, Baldridge said. And, the American Red Cross provides an adequate staff to ensure donors with busy schedules are in and out promptly.
