Nationally known author Beki Propst will speak at noon May 14 at the North Platte Library about her experience with sudden and absolute memory loss. Propst is the author of Absent Memories: Moving forward when you can’t look back. Nearly 11 years ago, Propst discovered she couldn’t remember any details of her past. Her long-term memories had been destroyed by repeated seizures over the course of several years. She was born in 1950 in Merino, Colo. but life as she knows it began in Sterling in 1997 when her seizures were controlled. In her presentation, “The Electrifying Truth about Seizures and Memory Loss,” Propst will share her discoveries about the neurological disorder that changed her life forever. “Absent Memories is a profile in courage,” said a reviewer. “It is the chronicle of one woman’s effort through tenacity and force of will to ‘just get on with it’ when there was no foundation of experience to build on. It is a march done in fear and trembling; but done with humor and joy at each new find. Therein lies a tale with lessons that all of us can learn. " Propst will autograph and sell copies of her books following the program. Space is limited to 70 people, so reservations are requested at 535-8036 by Wednesday, May 13. There is no charge. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch. Coffee, tea, and water will be provided. No catered lunches are available for this program. Absent Memories is also available for sale online at www.absentmemories.com. For information and/or an autographed copy, contact Propst at info@absentmemories.com or PO Box 1605, Longmont, CO 80501.
