The Democratic, Republican and Green Party candidates for U.S. Senate will debate Aug. 23 at the 2008 Nebraska State Fair in Lincoln. Three of the four candidates vying for the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Chuck Hagel – Republican Mike Johanns, Democrat Scott Kleeb and Green Party candidate Steve Larrick -- have agreed to participate. Nebraska Party candidate Kelly Rosberg has indicated she will not participate. Ken Rahjes, network ag broadcaster with KRVN Radio in Lexington, will serve as moderator. The Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation and the Rural Radio Network/KRVN Radio are sponsoring the event, which begins at 11 a.m. The debate is free and open to the public and will be held in the fair’s Open Air Auditorium. Each candidate will respond to questions from a panel of reporters and have an opportunity for closing remarks. The debate will last one hour and will be broadcast live on the Rural Radio Network: KRVN, Lexington, 880; KNEB, Scottsbluff, 960; and KTIC, West Point 840.
