Poppe, Ogborn win NLD Road Race titlesTell North Platte what you think
 

The 2007 Nebraskaland Days 5K and 10K Road Race was held in perfect running conditions at 7:30am Saturday. A total of 138 runners participated in the 5K and 10K Races. The overall winner in the men's 10K was Fort Hays State Cross Country runner, Aaron Davidson from Salina, Kan., with a time of 35.12. The overall women's 10K winner with a time of 39.30 was former UNL female athlete of the year and eight-time All American, Theresa Gosnell, from Omaha.

The overall winner in the men's 5K run was North Platte sophomore, Rick Poppe, with a time of 17.34. The overall winner in the women's 5K run was North Platte sophomore, Ashley Ogborn, with a time of 21.36. The first annual 5K men's team race was won by the North Platte Bulldogs. Team members included Poppe, Jordan Perez, Jeff Hardy, Michael Simpson, and David Bunker. Second place in the men's 5K team race was Imperial with team members Jonathan Beverly, Preston Bernhardt, Tyler Talbott, Kyle Bottom, Edgar Almanza and Mark Bottom.

Later in the day, the Nebraskaland Days Kidsí 1-Mile Run was held on East Fourth Street in front of an early-gathering parade crowd. Brady McGuire from North Platte was the overall winner with a time of 6.03. Natalie Poppe from North Platte was the overall girls winner with a time of 6.36. The 10 and under division winners were Jack Jenkins with a time of 6.46 and Amber Richards with a time of 8.08. The kids run had participants from Louisiana and Kansas and throughout Nebraska including Lincoln, Omaha, Sutherland and North Platte.

A 5K Team competition was included for the first time in 2007. The team scores

include the top 4 members in a 6 member team. First Place was North Platte

Bulldogs with a score of 14 and Imperial was Second with a score of 31.
