George  W.  Parks
     George W. Parks, 76, of Cozad, passed away Mar. 17 at the Cozad Community Hospital. George was born Mar. 6, 1937 at Norton, Kans. to Rex and Caroline (Moss) Parks.
     He attended school in Cambridge and Phillipsburg, Kans.
     George served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1958 where he worked as a printer. Following his discharge, George married LaVonne Brown on July 12, 1959 at Cambridge.
     George began work for the Cambridge Clarion Newspaper before moving to Cozad in 1961, where he worked for the Cozad Local Newspaper. George was later employed with the Tri-City Tribune for over 20 years.
     He also worked at Carland, H & H Auto and later, Monroe Automotive, and retired in 1999. Following his retirement, George worked part-time for Advanced Auto in Lexington.
     George was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cozad. He was a past member of the Cozad Elks Lodge No. 2250, the Eagles Club, the Lions Club, the Cozad Jaycees and the VFW, Post No. 4. George served as a volunteer for the Cozad Fire Department and was a member of many car clubs in the area.
     Survivors include his wife of Cozad; son, Michael Parks of Kearney; two daughters, Cheryl (Joel) Canas and Susan (Jerry) Thurn all of Cozad; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Lewis (Irma) of McCook; sister, Beveline Bevins of Kansas; and many other relatives and friends
     George was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and a sister.
     Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 21 at the Cozad United Methodist Church in Cozad. Burial with military honors will be in the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
